Under The Rain: Episode 6

Under The Rain

                        A LOVE STORY

Death is the destiny waiting for every human soul, and no one can tell you for sure when and where your soul is going to abandon your body and leave this world forever, but only someone can at least tell you that your day had not come yet, and this someone is the one who loved you the most ....

Episode 6

Lying on the bed, the curtains was shut, the room was totally darkened, everything outside seemed to be silent, no birds were singing, no winds were blowing, no rain was pouring.

That was the situation Sarah found when she woke up, she looked lost, she had extremely no idea what had happened in the last eighteen hours of her life, she didn’t know the reason behind that odd silence, why she was feeling exhausted like that, and why she was sleeping in the guest room instead of her own. Poor little Sarah looked like she didn’t remember anything.

Perhaps her unconscious mind refused to pass that destructive truth on to her conscious mind, perhaps this powerful unconscious mind was afraid of the reaction resulted when that fact is realized by that fragile conscious mind. Perhaps …

A little hard, she tried to get her body up from the bed, she placed her tiny little palms right under her back, and tried to push herself up, but sadly she couldn’t. As much as she was curious to find out what was going on at that very moment, her thin arms had failed to help her to do so. She was too tired to get up.

All the sudden, the guest room’s door was opened by someone, who went closer to Sarah’s body. Sarah looked at that someone, tried to figure out who it was, but the room was dark enough to make that person’s body unrecognized.
“Sarah..”  the person called, went to the lamp’s key, and switched the lights on.
Now, Sarah knew who it was, it was Vickie, her best friend. Sarah’s memory started to refresh, and the events of her worst hours started to rush all the way back to her head; yes, that was Vickie, the one who was holding her the day before, while she was crying and looking at the picture of her husband in the TV screen, who was announced to be burned to death in his airplane.
                                                               ***
She looked astonished, when she opened the door. Not only just astonished, she looked sad, and angry as well. She would never open that door if she knew who was behind.
“I know you are not expecting me,” said the man, who hurt her and her son a lot in their past times, and abandon them for more than nine years, “but you gotta say come in.”
She was taught well how to be nice, she studied etiquette for years when she was in her father’s house, perhaps that was one of the reasons why that man was attracted to her in the first place. She couldn’t hide her feelings though, it was perfectly clear that she hated him, and don’t even want to look at his face. But being nice was just a reflex.
“Come in,” she said.
Looking at his narrow, almond shaped eyes, watching him walking his tall thin body slowly in the hall, and seeing him sitting down like a king, all brought to her mind a lot of images from the past, images that she didn’t want to restore; when he used to order her around all the time while sitting and doing nothing, when he was mean to her and her little son, when he used to ignore her words and walk slowly away from her. That was not all, that was just the small incidents that used to happen every single day.
“You didn’t change,” he said, “you look exactly like before.”
He looked calm, but she was certain that he was not; she knew he was such a depraved snake, which wanders around, looking calm and full, trying to convince the poor rabbits that it didn’t even exist, before jumping up, and out of nowhere, and killing it dead. He was not as much calm as her trying to look, Mrs. Stewarts knew that her ex husband is having some troubles.
“Do I?” asked she, with a sarcastic short laugh.
“Yeah, you do,” he said, “you still look like an old thin dying little creature.”
“You know, Jack” she started, after standing in front of him, “god knows who will die first”
The man returned back her sarcastic laugh with the similar one, “Are you going to kill me or what?”
“But when my time comes, whenever that is going to be,” she continued ignoring his question, “I will be proud of every act of my life.”
His tall, thin, sitting body had suddenly stood up, and his narrow eyes have grew wide and scary.
“proud?”  He shouted, “Are proud of getting your son killed?”
“Getting him?” she asked with a loud wondering tone.
“Aren’t you the one who went along with his stupid childish dreams of being a damn pilot?” he said with a louder tone, “aren’t you the one who hung those aircraft pictures over his bed?”
Tears started to appear in the eyes of the strong woman, she tried to give him a strong, angry look, she did gave him that one, but it was obvious that she was falling apart from the inside.
“Aren’t you the one who convinced him not to listen to my advice?” he went on, “when I suggested proposing to Mr. Grasman daughter, having a business of his own, and live a peaceful life?”
“You were just looking for your own sake,” Screamed Mrs. Stewarts with a crying voice, “you never though of my son”
“You killed my son!”
Suddenly, she found herself pushed on the couch behind her by that cruel man, who did that, instead of taking a good care of his son’s mother and wife.
“I really hope it was you” replied the strong woman, “but it’s over, you missed your chance to implement your unjust plan”
She cried heavily just before saying “Josh is dead now,” it really looked too hard for her to pronounce the word dead after saying her son’s name, “go find another plan to pay your loans and increase your fortune.”
“You deserve to be dead too” he said
“Is that a threat?” she asked with a broken smile, “because you are too weak to do that”
Mrs. Stewarts started to breath fast, and fast.
“Get out!” she screamed, she looked in a serious pain, “now!”
The man started to get scared, she looked like she was about to die, but he wouldn’t care, actually it would be a great thing for him if she died. What really made him leave the place immediately after giving a cold angry look, was the threatening words said, said from behind, not from Mrs. Stewarts, who was about to lose consciousness, but from another person.
“I called the police, they are on there way” said Vickie.
After the leaving of the cruel man, the brave experienced girl ran towards the strong broken woman, to make sure that she is alright. She was not that fine.
“You’re gonna be fine.” Said Vickie after sitting close to her on the couch.
